WHY KOH SAMET?
Koh Samet is the closest island from Bangkok… making it THE getaway for locals and tourist. The island is small, making it easy to walk from resort to bar, to beach, to restaurant. The size of Koh Samet also gives you a small-town vibe, even though it is a popular site. The beaches of white sands and beautiful, blue water make this location IDEAL for city escape. And with daily happy hour deals and delicious seafood, Koh Samet has something to offer every traveler.

ENJOY HAPPY HOUR:
For Happy Hour, my favorite is NAGA BAR. It is about 1/4 mile from Samed Villa Resort. It is not on the beach, but overlooks it. If you find the mermaid statue, it is roadside and almost right next to it. Happy Hour is from 3-9 and 80B cocktails.
**Happy Hour: 3-9pm 80B ($2.50)/cocktail
Head to Silver Sands Resort. They have a DJ that plays EDM, dance floor, glow-in-the-dark body paint, and drinks. It’s a good time!
** Drinks: 120-300B ($3.75- 9)/ drink
STUFF YOUR FACE:
SEAFOOD…duh! It’s an island so seafood is fresh and caught that day! If you’re not a fan, all restaurants offer other options (both Thai and frarang). The great thing about dinner on the island? You can point to “Today’s Catch” displayed on ice and they can cook to your liking.
My favorites were Samed Villa Resort for dinner, and Silver Sands Resort for lunch.
** 90B/ glass of wine, and 100B/2 Large Chang Beer
Pad grapow kung khai dao, Silver Sands Resort
You really can’t go wrong with any resort. With so many frarang tourists coming through, the standards are high.
PEAK: The water is gorgeous! Just being in the water and being able to see a few colorful fish was awesome. I swam out to a dock and soaked up the sun while watching the fish swim underneath me. That was relaxing!
PIT: We went snorkeling, or tried to anyway, and somehow I got attacked by sand fleas! I had red bumps ALL over my legs. They went away about a week later, and they didn’t really itch or burn, but it just looked scary.
